Dolores is a town in the province of Alicante in Spain. It is located in the Vega Baja del Segura region in the south of the Costa Blanca. Dolores is in the centre of 'la Huerta' which means the vegetable garden of this region
Dolores is a typical Spanish town and has an old traditional village centre around the beautiful church 'Parroquia Nuestra Señora de los Dolores'. Absolutely worth a visit. You will be amazed by its beauty. There are several restaurants, shops, small and large supermarkets. All the necessary facilities are available. And if you want to go to a bigger city, Elche, Alicante, Murcia, Cartagene, Torrevieja,... are some must-see places

Elche
23 kilometres from Alicante is the Spanish coastal city of Elche (or Elx in Valencian). People also call this city the city of palm trees and botanical gardens.
Outside Valencia itself, Elche, with its 234,765 inhabitants, is the largest city in the Valencia region.
Arabs settled the city in the 10th century. When they built it from the ground up, they surrounded their dream of civilisation with palm trees.
These trees are still abundant in the city centre and should not be cut down.
This gives the city of Elche an exotic character.

Alicante
This city is just 38 minutes from Dolores. It is the second largest city in the Valencia region, with more than 330,000 inhabitants

Cartagena
This city is just 50 minutes from Dolores
It is a city and port and has more than 214,000 inhabitants.The city is surrounded by a wall containing eight gates. Its natural harbour is a very deep bay on which Spain's main naval base is located. Two protruding capes, topped by fortifications, protect the city. Worth seeing are the 13th-century Santa María Veja cathedral and the view from the ruined Castillo de la Concepción.

Altea
Altea is one of the most beautiful white villages on the Costa Blanca! It is just a chill hour car-cruise from Dolores. Inland, beautifully situated on a hill, at the foot of the Sierra de Bérnia (Comunidad Valencia). It has a totally different atmosphere and feel than Benidom. The old art village is authentic, and the narrow streets lead you to the church with blue dome in the main square. Along the 6 km long coastline with (pebble) beaches and coves, is a long lively promenade with restaurants/bars, and runs all the way to Albir. It is a stylish town that is also lively during the winter. In the summer months it is as everywhere very busy

Murcia
This city is just 37 minutes from Dolores.It is the capital of the Murcia region and has over 441,000 inhabitants. This makes it the seventh largest city in Spain.

Torrevieja
This town is just 23 minutes from Dolores.
Torrevieja means 'old tower' and has about 20 km of coast and has 84,213 inhabitants which can rise to 200,000 in summer thanks to tourism.
